$chlick is a musician who is the CEO of MEGVLITHIC RECXRDS and makes some amazing trill ass music. He has a great sound and has collaborated with many legends. A few months ago with Lil Wretched and Dead Internally he was a guest on the podcast. We will do another one soon, but for now, here is an article interview between us!
How did you come up with your name?
Honestly my name is a nickname my mother gave me. And I ran with it. I won’t get into details bc it’s kind of embarrassing but it was a nickname from my mom.
Where did you grow up and what’s the music scene like there?
I grew up all over the country I’ve lived in Washington, idaho, Oregon, Tennessee, Kentucky, Maine. But I spent most of my teenage years in Portland Oregon. The music scene is alright. I’ve put a lot of rappers on and I’m just now starting to get my flowers I was one of the first people to really start rapping in Hillsboro/Portland. Although there are a lot of rappers I fw in Portland the scene is just very much overlooked.
Can you remember your First ever recording session?
Yeah actually I can remember my first recording session. It was me, Trill02, our producer at the time Gloveworld, and our homie Aylo Rosè (rozay). We all had different styles so when we were all in one room together it got very experimental. I mean shit I was screaming at the top of my lungs over a beat at one point. It was a very fun time. Who has been a privilege to work with?
It honestly has been a privelage to work with a lot of people. I’ve worked with gangsta pat, ned bundy, da menace, psycho, DJ sound, DJ Zirk, Icemane Tha Kingpin. It’s been an honor to work with all of them and an even bigger honor to work with my brothers at MEGVLITHIC RECXRDS. I love them all no homo.
What do you look for in beats?
honestly when I look for beats it depends on what mood I’m in. I like a lot of things and I can’t really explain why if I feel a vibe to the beat and I can catch a flow best believe I’m going to rap on it.
What’s your approach for writing songs?
I usually kick back, put my headphones in, smoke a bowl, smoke a cigarette. And I just let the lyrics come to me. I can write a song in 20 minutes and have it be good with actual structure. I like to think about previous life experiences or shit I would like to do and put it into my music.
How did you come to work with Nell?
I’m just gonna put it bluntly fuck Nell, he’s been going around scamming people for ages telling people that he wants to work then sells them a verse he gave to three other people, he got me for $400. Yeah I don’t like Nell. My song “Death Row” explains the situation
Favorite underground rap groups?
My favorite underground rap groups would definitely have to be San Francisco’s Triple 6, Doomsday Productions, U.D.I, Clika One there’s more but I can’t think of them
What was the backstory behind your controversial diss track?
The backstory behind that track was. Dead wizard and Kyo dissed my friends Lokrypt and Illminded Mafia. Dead wizard said he was going to fuck Enviou$’s bitch even though dead wizard is 25 and she’s 17 (envious is a minor too) but illminded responded calling them a fag once. Dead wizard went all on instagram plastering them as homophobes and transphobes trying to blacklist them. So I texted kyo saying “you posting them is only giving them clout just saying” then kyo proceeded to diss my dead homies and call me a transphobe and a homophobe. So I pulled an Eminem, doubled down on it, and said I am whatever you say I am. (Even though I have no hate towards gay people at all) and I called them faggots like 50 times

What is on the horizon music and show wise?
Well I had a show July 26th it wAS my birthday bash. I’m trying to get some tours set up right now for me and my clique, MEGVLITHIC has an album coming out featuring all of MEGVLITHIC’s roster plus all of our homies. It’s gonna be some sick shit. I’m also in the works of an album but I’m going to keep the name a secret until the time is right
